Check Tings Out ! Featured on Central TV News

The notable success of “Check Tings Out,” Nottingham’s first prostate cancer risk assessment clinic, based at 31 Hungerhill Road, St Anns, Nottingham was followed by the launch of a new venue on Tuesday 29th June.

The new clinic is based at The Vine Community Centre, Bobbers Mill Road, NG7 5GZ; the first session will be on Monday July 3rd, opening hours are 9am - 3.30pm. Clinics will be held on the first Monday of each month at the Vine Centre, and at the ACNA Centre Cottage, on Hungerhill Road, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. In July and August 2017, sessions at the ACNA centre will be held between 1:30 and 8:00 pm to make the clinics accessible after standard working hours.

Dr Sophia Skyers presented a qualitative report documenting the progress of the drop-in clinic. Men shared their experiences of using the clinic, which has been attended by over 200 since opening in June 2016. Kirsty Mallalieu of the Nottingham City CCG, NUH NHS Trust Urology nurses and Nottingham GP Cancer Lead Dr Arun Tangri also contribute to the agenda.

The clinic is open to all men of 40 years and over who are registered with a GP across all communities in Nottingham, but with a particular focus on black African and black Caribbean men who have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Check out the dates, times and venue here.
